Local names: *Ova, Oma, Omam, Ajwain, Bishop’s weed, etc*
Ova plant is grown in Rajasthan and Gujarat and mostly in Middle East. The dried ova seeds that we get r actually the fruits of the plant. It is a tradition to have ajwain seeds after food and also give ajwain water to babies for relief from colic. Ova is used in wide range of culinary preparations. Thymol found in Ajwain has anti-bacterial and anti-microbial properties to fight various diseases. Sharing below ova plant pictures as it often confused with another plant whose leaves have same smell of ova but is of a different genus.
