Oft repeated question is why is my Adenium not flowering and growing thin and straggly.
Botanical name: Adenium with many sub classifications/varieties obesum, arabicum, multiflorum, etc. Now many innumerable hybrids have been developed as well.
They r known for their varied coloured flowers in single and multipetal varieties. They r also valued for their unusually thick caudices where they store water. Bcos of this storing capacity, their water requirement has to be understood and managed efficiently.
Adeniums are also called Desert Rose and so we need to give them desert like conditions to survive. They thrive and give best results with full day sun exposure, well draining soil mixture, regular pruning and manuring, which is to be done only during summer months. They are in dormancy during winter and rainy seasons and so no manuring and pruning to be done in that period. The potting mixture should be 80 percent soil and sand mixture and rest 20 percent manure. For good flowering, mustard cake liquid, sea weed extract liquid, etc can be added. Bone meal can be added once every two months. Preferably manure should be given in liquid form to avoid dry form of manure caking up and blocking good drainage.
Watering should be done only when the soil is completely dry.
If one can meet its above living conditions, then only one should be invest in various Adenium varieties.
