Monsoons r here and our plants love it. Atmospheric nitrogen gets dissolved in water and plants get abundance of their favourite food leading to new sprouts and green growth. Here r some activities and tips to manage your plants in this wet season:
1. Move plants that don’t love too much wetness to a place it is protected from constant rain eg., Adenium, rose, etc.
2. Check drain holes of all pots to ensure good draining of continuous rain water to prevent root rot.
3. Moist climate r ideal situations for pests to thrive….keep checking for signs like leaf curl, mealy bug infestation, leaves yellowing, etc and spray natural pesticides at least once a month on pest prone plants as a preventive measure.
4. Monsoon is ideal time to do repotting, transplanting as transplant shock will be minimal due to conducive environment of moisture in air. (dry and hot climate to be avoided for above activity)
5. Soft and hard pruning can be done in monsoon to get fresh sprouts and new growth in monsoon.
6. Ideal time to cut and multiply cuttings of overgrown plants now.
7. Ideal time for tree plantation and seed sowing as well.
