poll: Can fresh cow dung be used as manure
Cowdung cannot be used fresh as manure to plants as it contains high amounts of ammonia and can burn plants.
Cow dung has to be first composted and then used. It should be atleast 6 months – 1 year old before application.
Using fresh cow dung manure can also cause weed growth bcos of weed seeds in it. It can also help spread of harmful pathogens present in it. Also there is strong odour to handle with uncomposted cow dung. This also applies to all types of dungs, chicken manure horse dung manure, etc.
Cow dung can be used fresh in preparation of jeevamrut and applied in 7 days time.
