Birds of Paradise plants originate from South Africa and is classified as one of the exotic flowers. A evergreen ornamental perennial tropical plant which is cultivated for its dramatic flowers and can live upto 50-150 years.
Care instructions:
Well draining pot soil
full of nutrition like old cowdung, bonemeal, neem pend, etc.
Sun loving plant…needs 6-7 hours whole year ..only in summer, partial sunlight for 3-4 years to avoid burning of leaves.
Add a manure every 2-3 months during the active flowering season.
Their blooming time in our country is from September to May. They r slow growing and may take from 5-6 years to bloom, esp in pots.
Results of growth r best in ground soil than pots …in ground they grow upto 8 feet!!
As the flowers last for 3-4 weeks, they r used in exotic cut flower decorations.
