Often, plant lovers r unaware on how to follow the watering routine of each plant. It is very essential to understand each plant’s requirement about its various needs, viz., watering requirements, sunlight requirement, manure requirements, etc before even investing in one. Often plants die due to overwatering by us leading to root rot than underwatering.
One old and time tested method to check if your plant needs watering is to insert a thin wooden or bamboo stick inside the soil….if the soil sticks to the stick, avoid watering as the soil has moisture yet(plants need moisture around than wet conditions in the soil)…if the stick comes out clean, the soil is dry and can do with watering imm. So keep this stick handy near ur pots for quick watering test.
Ofcourse, checking top soil with finger method is also good option…but stick option checks moisture level deep down the pot and more accurate assessment of a plant’s water requirement.
