Nyctanthes Arbor-tristis..local names Parijat, Harshringar, Night Jasmine, tree of sorrow, etc…very important native night blooming highly medicinal and ornamental shrub (growing in South East Asia). It is widely used in Ayurveda for healing Scaitia, rheumatic pains, inflammation, diabetes skin, respiratory, digestive issues. Few leaves along with few flowers r boiled and steeped to get a healing tea for above ailments. A very hardy plant that needs minimum care in ground level and full sun blooms in the night and sheds its flowers in the morning in large numbers. The oil extracted is used in aromatherapy. The orange colour of the flower stem is used as dye. Another unique feature of the flowers each flower will have varying number of petals from 4 to 8!!…ie some hv 4 some 5, some 6 and so on. Every part from leaves to roots is useful. Can be propogated by seeds and cuttings easily.
