*Black pepper*, a fruit of a flowering vine, is called queen of spices. It is the world’s most traded spice and added to cuisines round the world since time immemorial. It is mostly produced in South Asia and Kerala, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu in India. Consumption of black pepper is better than green/red chillies bcos of its medicinal and healing properties in the compound piperine and presence of manganese whereas red chilli can increase heat/burning sensation in stomach/pitta/acidity in body. Always grind pepper fresh when reqd as it doesn’t store well in powder form.
