Propagation of plant by stem cuttings ensures exact same type of plant to grow as that of mother plant and hence called cloning as well. Generally a soft branch of around 3-4 inches with few nodes in it is used. All leaves except 2-3 at the top end of the cutting is kept to reduce load on the stem and help it use all its energy for root formation. A root hormone powder or gel or natural easily available honey, aloe vera gel, turmeric, etc can be used to dip the root end of stem. Some stem cuttings can even be propagated easily without any disinfectant or root hormones
