*Successful Seed Saving Techniques*
Though seeds were saved since time immemorial, *Seed Saving techniques* have gained lot of importance in recent times as there is huge efforts being made to save our heirloom and original seeds that r becoming rare or extinct. What we generally get in the market r GMO, hybrid and poison laced seeds. So many natural and permaculture farmers as well as individuals r doing their best to save our traditional and natural native seeds by creating a seed bank and exchanging these seeds in their circle to keep our heirloom crops, vegetables, fruits and our desi and rare forest trees from disappearing and becoming extinct.
Generally flowers have *Dry Seeds* whereas vegetables and fruits seeds can be both *Dry and Wet seeds*
*Dry seeds* r easy to collect from flowers (eg., sunflower, aboli, desi marigold, etc) as well as flower/ veggie pods (gokarna, drumstick, most bean varieties hv pods, etc) and store as most of the work is done by the plant or tree in question…we just hv to collect them when they r brown or black in colour, remove them from pods, etc and store them away in paper bags in neatly labelled, clean airtight jars away from light and humidity. They need to be stored in cool dry places where there in minimum temperature fluctuations.
